Frédéric Bastiat (1801-1850)

Brief Bio

Frédéric Bastiat (1801-1850) was one of the leading advocates for free trade in France in the 1840s. He was also a populariser of free market ideas in works like Economic Sophisms (1846, 1848). He developed a theory of plunder and class analysis and wrote an unfinished treatise on economics Economic Harmonies (1850-51).
